Carly Strickland has been in love with art since she learned to color inside the lines. She was heavily involved in art and theater in High School. Upon graduating from high school in Pelham, Alabama, Carly went on to study illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

At SCAD Carly became involved in the Writer’s Block and played the role of Ophelia in a studio production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. During the summer before her senior year, Carly held a graphic design internship at EBSCO Media.

Carly graduated Magna Cum Laude from SCAD in 2011 with a degree in Illustration. In autumn of 2011, her premier children’s book Sunshine’s Night Out was released. Carly’s responsibilities at Matter Deep include book covers (Kissing Corpses, Olympia Heights) and interior design (Olympia Heights, The Incognito Project, The Expedition & Beyond, etc). In 2012, Carly illustrated a collection of short stories: Say No to Sparkles is due out this Halloween.

Carly is the proud mother of two fancy rats, Queenie and Duchess. She loves old Star Trek episodes and says the word “Awesome” an awful lot.
